The year 2020 posed a great challenge for eMan, as well as for the world at large, in the form of the covid-19 pandemic. Although the IT sector is generally expected to strengthen as a result of this, for our generation, unprecedented event due to increased pressure from companies, the state, and individuals to digitize, this does not mean that we do not need to respond to this situation. Thanks to a good assessment of the overall situation, our company managed to cut all non-profitable costs to a minimum and, at the same time, keep all ongoing projects running, as well as start new ones. All this at a complicated time, when our important customers had to re-evaluate their priorities, suspend some projects, and set up processes enabling remote work for, and communication with, their employees.
To complicate matters, even more, last year was a turning point for eMan in another event, namely our entry onto the Prague Stock Exchange START. This meant another great burden for the whole company, not only in terms of investment, but especially the time spent by colleagues who participated in the IPO process. The reward was one of the most successful IPOs on the Prague Stock Exchange. We oversubscribed our introductory shares by more than 100 % and, since the IPO, have seen an increase in the company’s market valuation of about 20 % to date which, I believe, is good news for our shareholders. In this context, I cannot fail to emphasize our decision that, even though we entered the stock exchange at a time when the whole world was under pressure from the covid-19 pandemic, we did not back down or panic, but successfully completed the transaction. With our decision, we swayed other companies that were thinking about entering the stock exchange though, given the situation, were waiting to see how we ended up. I am glad that we have thusly contributed to the development of the investment market in the Czech Republic.
These steps mean that eMan will meet its planned economic result and, despite the tribulations, 2020 will go down as one of the most successful years in our history. It was also a very good springboard for further, likely not easy, years.
In conclusion, I would like to thank all our employees for their work and attitude during the past year, all our partners and customers for their cooperation, and our new shareholders for their trust in our company.

At the end of August, eMan successfully entered the PX Start Market on the Prague Stock Exchange. We subscribed a bit less than half of the company’s valuation with this IPO. Before entering the stock market, shares in the company were offered to team members, who now own about 2.5 % of the shares.
The original four founders of the company kept a total of 51 % of the shares. In preparation for the IPO, eMan was transformed from a limited liability company to a joint stock company.
ŠKODA AUTO was one of our most important customers in 2020. We’ve been working on a number of interesting projects for the largest Czech car maker, including the following solutions, among others:
ŠKODA Connect – a mobile application for car command and control, used daily by tens of thousands of users/drivers
ŠKODA Socon – a web application that helps importers and service providers communicate effectively with customers
In the first phase, we prepared a complete solution for the management of shipments and PPL branches. After the application and web portal, the existing solution was expanded in the next phase by a number of other functions, such as card payments, the possibility of handing over a shipment without a signature, internal holiday planning, and more. The whole solution helps PPL increase the efficiency of their internal processes, thereby speeding up the delivery of shipments and increasing the satisfaction of their customers.
PPL handed over up to 2 million gifts at its collection points for the 2020 Christmas season. We are glad that the application, on which we cooperated in cooperation with PPL, also helped to achieve this result
E.ON offers a wide range of energy products from renewable sources. As part of its green policy, they are moving towards digitizing all contractual processes. In 2020, we completed another important component of the eContracts solution for E.ON, whereby they can easily make acquisitions, as well as manage and rewrite contracts online using a secure digital signature.
For a long time, we have been more than just software developers. We strive to be a true partner for our customers, and help them with their digital transformation on many levels. From initial analysis, through prototype preparation and development, to subsequent support and service.
One of the other key services in our portfolio is consulting. In 2020, for example, we helped ČSOB Pojišťovna in the area of industrial risk insurance.
We love nature and, for a long time, have endeavoured to be the greenest company possible. That is why we are happy that we were able to begin cooperation with a new (green) customer in 2020, namely, Lesy ČR (the Czech state forest authority), when we completely took over the development of their mobile application Klub nového lesa (New Forest Club) from their previous supplier. The app helps organize tree planting and invites nature lovers to interesting events held in Czech forests.
Since 2018, eMan has been a holder of the ISO 14001 certificate, demonstrating our commitment to long-term sustainability and the environment.
In 2020, digital transformation was a buzz word with many accents. This also applied to the complete digitization of communication with customers through the client (self-care) and self-service portals. At eMan, we know customer portals. We have gained a lot of experience, extensive know-how, and notable references in this area. We have developed large solutions in the past, for example, for E.ON and MND. In 2020, we also implemented an extensive client portal for Pražská plynárenská.
VeraLink is a customer of our US subsidiary. Together, we performed an analysis, designed a draft with complete design, prepared the infrastructure, and developed a complete verification management solution. This helps increase efficiency not only for employees, but also for operators and suppliers to connect the right people with the right job, manage employees and projects, and evaluate compliance requirements, all at the touch of a button. VeraLink is a breakthrough project for collaboration with clients in America in general, and in the oil and gas industry in particular.
The digitization of the industry is starting to gain traction. One comes across the term “Industry 4.0” more and more. We are happy that eMan can be there and help its clients transform their operations and their business. Tenaris is a global manufacturer and supplier of steel pipes and related services, primarily for the energy industry. The company has nearly 23,000 employees worldwide. eMan helps Tenaris address its infrastructure digitization through consultation.
At eMan, we’ve never had a problem working remotely. Nevertheless, the covid-19 pandemic practically forced us to switch to online mode on an unprecedented scale from one day to the next. Moving the entire team into a virtual environment for such a long time required the creation of new organizational procedures and perfect control of online tools. We gained a wealth of experience that we can continue to implement in our business, as well as in fine-tuning our internal company processes.

Unfortunately, due to the coronavirus, 2020 was very poor in terms of our company events, as compared to previous years. Many of them had to be completely cancelled, or held online. At eMan, we are happy to participate in everything; we enjoy contact with our developers and business community. You could, however, find us at these events
